The Ant and The Grasshopper
All summer long the Ant worked collecting grains and supplies for winter. Instead of working the Grasshopper played the fiddle and mocked the Ant. Winter came and the Ant was living off the grain that he had stored up for himself during the summer. The Grasshopper came to the Ant and asked him to share some of his grain. The Ant said to the Grasshopper, 'And what were you doing all summer long, since you weren't gathering grain to eat?' The Grasshopper replied, 'I was busy playing and I didn't have time for the harvest.' The Ant laughed at the Grasshopper's reply, and hid his heaps of grain deeper in the ground.

I am an ant and I am angry at grasshoppers. When I first learned of this fable the ants took pity on the Grasshopper and shared their food with him in exchange for music. I was happier to learn in the original version the ant let the grasshopper die. I have never understood people who get to do exactly what they want all the time and never give thought to the consequences even when they affect other people. People get to play for months and then I step in to help clean up their messes. Not fair. I wish I could be a Grasshopper but I am not that selfish nor shortsighted. The games and fun of today have to be balanced with the work and responsibility of tomorrow. I have never looked at the world any other way.

Today at the "adult" table--

Brother: Come on Papa.

Everyone: A what?!
Papa: A sow pig. They are innocent and so am I.
An hour later as he was leaving...
Papa [to me]:You behave.

... Aragorn. I have a 6 foot cutout of Aragorn that needs a good home. He has served his purpose well and at this point he reminds me more of a friendship I no longer have, than of the sexy man of my dreams. He is in great condition and free. I know for a fact that he makes a good gift.

"The WWE canceled its live "Monday Night RAW" card in Corpus Christi, Texas, and USA Network aired a three-hour tribute to Benoit in place of the scheduled wrestling telecast."
The man killed his wife and 7 yr old son on Sunday and then himself on Monday and he gets a 3 HOUR TRIBUTE?! I am stunned and very angry. This is the slippery slope of society, a celebrity can kill people and they are still stars.
In the movie Play It to the Bone Woody Harrelson says, "If a man builds a thousand bridges and sucks one dick, they don't call him a bridge-builder... they call him a cocksucker." But apparently for sport stars that isn't true if you kill your family. He died, so he gets a tribute. Ignoring everything else.
Fans are saying there is no way he could have done any harm to his family because he loved them so much, his son was in the ring with him after he won, etc... So what? That only proves his guilt all the more. They are called family annihilators. They love their families so much that they can't see the family surviving without them.

I want to thank ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) melissanmn and 2syn for The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles. I loved this book and given it is mostly reread again, it is safe to say it is still loved. I can remember the smell of the stacks when I first found it in the library and the happiness when I finished reading it later that night under my step-sister's bed with a flashlight (so I wouldn't bother her).
Thank you for not only the book but such a great memory.

A great day
Today was just a day but for some reason it just felt great to me. I felt a part of all my families. Friends calling each other just to check in and have a laugh. Mom, The Boy and I making plans for a family vacation. Pol and I plotting to plot later. My Papa acting like a kid who is grounded and can't go out to play because he had prostate cancer surgery, getting cheery over getting one of my chicken pot pies. Being taunted with men in kilts....
A great day.
Plus my son was awesome and great while we waited at an office for nearly 2 and a half hours. Even after we ran out of cheerios and cheese.

Speed Hunting
Today was Little Man's first Easter Egg Hunt and it was so cold the 2 and under group had cleared their section in under 2 minutes. I had camcorder issues right before he got his first egg in the Spiderman Head (Thanks UM and family!) and then BAM - BAM right as we've practiced at home he got three in a row. He ended up with four total because he was given a fourth but our goal was three and that is what he got. Plus he had the coolest basket there. +)

Clearing the Air
Today my best friend is getting married and I will not be at the wedding. Many, including the bridal party, assume it is because I do not support polyamory . Even though I disagree with them that is not enough to keep me away. I am not there because they are lying to their families and some of their friends. They are waiting until after the wedding to tell them to true nature of their relationship. Including that the person performing the ceremony is in fact the bride's boyfriend. If everyone knew they may very well choose to not attend but the bride and groom feel their desire for people to watch them outweighs everyone else's freedom of choice. If I attended and pretended that the bride and groom are only involved with one another and made sure all the closeted couples kept up their charade as well, I would be lying through my actions. I value myself more than that. I know I have lost one of the most important people in my life because of my decision. I miss him every day. I miss knowing he will be a huge part of my future. We had planned to grow old together. Pol, Belz, he and I. We knew we would be adding to that list as he and I found mates but I never thought we would be subtracting.
I wish him happiness on his path. I just wish he did not value his happiness over the rights of others to make informed decisions.

Dear djbnaut,
I normally don't name names in my entries unless it is something nice but I don't want there to be any confusion to anyone about who I am writing to this time. On the New Year I told you I needed time and space. You gave me 6 weeks. Well almost on the nose of another 6 weeks you contact my cousin to ask about me. I can understand you might be concerned about me but that doesn't make it okay. If you miss Pol and Belz as friends, contact them about them. However they are not, under any circumstance, a loophole to me wanting distance from you.
I do not like the kind of person you are and I don't want you around my family. Especially since you won't respect my wishes. If I want you in my life I know your email address. You do whatever you want, whenever you want and however you want it. I feel Danny Elfman has expressed my current emotion better than I ever could:

Mama vs 3 Day
Today I had to choose, being Mama or walking the 3 Day this year. Children aren't welcome to anything and the lady on the phone suggested I get a babysitter. Okay sure let me whip one up. So next year will have to be my year. By then I should have met more people here through the church and Little Man will be more independent. Plus I'll be able to stay at the camp with everyone else. Breast Cancer 3 Day
I want to walk the walk in October. I've sent for information to join but every walker has to raise at least $2,200. I'm sure my mom's church group will help but I will need more than them to get my foot on the path. Let me know what you all think because the treadmill and I will be bonding again soon and it would help for me to have a goal in 7 months.
I want to walk for myself. I don't have breast cancer but this is something I need to do.
